On the occasion of Magh Bihu, people erect makeshift huts known as Meji and Bhelaghar from bamboo, leaves and thatch. On the day of Uruka or Bihu eve people enjoy the community feast known as Bhoj, and then burn the huts the next morning as a gesture of thanksgiving to the God for bestowing them with good harvest and health.
