Guwahati, April 12: Highlighting the untapped potential of the Northeast in the pharmaceutical sector, Pharmacy Council of India (PCI) president Dr Montukumar M Patel has called for transforming the region into India’s next pharma hub, driven by skilled professionals, innovation and entrepreneurship.
He was addressing an awareness programme titled, ‘Inspire & Interact’ organized by the PCI at The Assam Royal Global University (RGU), where pharmacy students from across the region participated. The event featured an interactive session led by Dr Patel, along with PCI vice-president Jashubhai H Choudhari and other council members, a press release stated.
Dr Patel emphasised the need for stronger industry-academia collaboration to align academic learning with real-world demands. He noted that such engagements offer students valuable insights into emerging opportunities in the pharmaceutical sector.
Students from several institutions, including Girijananda Chowdhury University, Assam Don Bosco University, Assam Down Town University and other pharmacy colleges of the region, attended the programme.
Encouraging innovation and entrepreneurship, Dr Patel urged local youth to seize emerging industrial opportunities. He also underscored the critical role of pharmacy education in healthcare, stating that professional qualifications remain essential across drug-related sectors.
