Guwahati, May 9: Chief Minister-elect Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma today met Assam Governor Prof. Jagdish Mukhi to stake claim to form the next government in the State.

 

Guwahati, May 9: Assam CM-designate Dr Himanta Biswa Sarma has expressed his gratitude to Prime Minister Narendra Modi and the people of Assam for keeping faith in him.

Guwahati, May 9: All India United Democratic Front (AIUDF) chief Badruddin Ajmal congratulated Himanta Biswa Sarma.

“I hope Dr. Sharma with his experience and dedication will pull out Assam from the critical juncture it is at. I wish him a successful tenure (sic),” the Lok Sabha MP said in a Twitter post.

GUWAHATI, May 9: Senior BJP leader Himanta Biswa Sarma will be the next Chief Minister of Assam. This decision was formally taken during the first meeting of the newly constituted BJP Legislature Party here today.

Sarma's name for the post of the Leader of the BJP Legislature Party was proposed by Sonowa and seconded by State BJP president and MLA-elect Ranjeet Kumar Das and MLA-elect Nandita Garloda. It was unanimously supported by the other MLAs-elect of the party.

As Leader of the BJP Legislature Party, Sarma will assume charge as the next Chief Minister. The next State government headed by Himanta Biswa Sarma is likely to be sworn-in tomorrow.
