Guwahati, May 9: The Asom Gana Parishad (AGP) has tendered it's unanimous support to the BJP legislature party chief as the next Chief Minister of Assam.
AGP working president Keshab Mahanta said the newly-elected MLAs of the party have decided to support the leader of the legislature party elected by the BJP. This paves the way for Dr Himanta Biswa Sharma, elected unanimously as the BJP legislature party chief, to be the next chief minister of the state.
The AGP is a part of the BJP-led alliance that has retained power in the State. The third partner of the alliance is United People's Party Liberal, which is also expected to support Dr Sharma as the next chief minister.
