Imphal, May 11: Manipur on Friday reported one fresh case of Covid-19, prompting the health authorities to take steps to contain the spread of the virus.
According to a statement issued by the office of the Medical Superintendent, JNIMS Hospital, Porompat, Imphal East, a 62-year-old woman from Uchekon, Imphal East, has tested positive for Covid and has been admitted to the Covid Ward (Old ATC).
The statement further notified that, as an emergency measure, the junior residents who are on emergency duty in the ATC will cover the patient for any emergency treatment requirements and the concerned unit doctor or doctors may be contacted for further necessary treatments.
The superintendent of the Jawaharlal Nehru Institute of Medical Sciences, Dr. Lokeshor Singh, told The Assam Tribune that the patient will continue to stay at the isolation ward for at least seven days. The woman has no travel history in the last few months.
The samples from the patient have already been sent for further detection of the variant. However, Dr. Lokeshor Singh says there is no reason for panic and people already knew precautionary measures.
Normally jam-packed JNIMS Hospital looked deserted on Saturday. People started wearing masks on the hospital premises as instructed by the hospital authority.
