ECI urges Assam voters to verify names as electoral roll revision deadline nears

Guwahati, Jan 19: With January 22 being the last date for filing claims and objections during the ongoing Special Revision, the Election Commission of India (ECI) on Sunday urged all the people of Assam to verify their names in the draft electoral rolls.
“In pursuance of the instructions of the ECI... dated 17th November, 2025, it is hereby informed to all concerned that the last date for filing claims and objections during the ongoing Special Revision of Electoral Rolls is 22nd January, 2026,” state a press release issued by the office of the Chief Electoral Officer (CEO) Assam.
It urged all eligible citizens to submit applications in Form 6 (for new registration), Form 7 (for objection/deletion) and Form 8 (for correction of entries/shifting of residence) before the date.
It stated that the forms may be submitted directly to the Booth Level Officer (BLO) at the designated polling station or to the Electoral Registration Officer (ERO) and Assistant Electoral Registration Officer (AERO).
Applications can also be submitted online through the ECINET mobile app or through the portal voters.eci.gov.in. There is no restriction in the number of Form 7 applications to be filled or submitted by an elector of the concerned constituency to the ERO/AERO, as per law.
It also requested citizens to verify their names in the draft electoral rolls and take prompt action to ensure that every eligible voter is duly enrolled in the rolls of their respective constituency on or before January 22.
