Bijni, March 3: The Bodoland People’s Front (BPF) has expelled Dimbeswar Boro, former vice president of the Bijni District Youth BPF, from the party for six years over alleged anti-party activities, intensifying the political contest in the Bijni Assembly constituency.

The decision, taken as per the directive of the Youth BPF central committee and the Bijni District BPF, removes Boro both from his post and primary membership.

The move comes after Boro chose to contest the elections as an independent candidate following denial of a BPF ticket.

Addressing a press conference, Bijni District Youth BPF President Rupam Kumar Das announced the expulsion and urged the public to remain cautious.

“Dimbeswar Boro has contested as an independent candidate and has repeatedly spoken against the party. His actions violated party discipline and principles, leaving us with no option but to expel him for six years,” Das said.

He further appealed to voters not to be misled by Boro’s claims.

“He may call himself independent, but attempts are being made to create confusion among voters. We urge the people of Bijni not to believe such narratives and to stand firmly with the official candidate,” he added.

Das reiterated the party’s support for NDA candidate Arup Kumar De, calling on voters to ensure his victory.

“Arup Kumar De is the candidate representing the interests of Bijni’s development. We appeal to the जनता to vote for him and strengthen the region’s progress,” he stated.

The Youth BPF leader also hinted at further disciplinary action within the party, noting that the central committee would take appropriate steps against Khalilur Rahman, a former BPF councillor who is also contesting as an independent.

Meanwhile, at an election rally in Pachalahar, while campaigning for NDA candidate Arup Kumar De Hagrama Mohilary attacked United People’s Liberal Party (UPPL).

He questioned shifting political loyalties, remarking, “If leaders are changing sides, they must answer the public themselves. The people deserve clarity on such decisions.”

Targeting the party, Mohilary warned voters against trusting its statements.

“If we go by UPPL’s past statements, including those made last year, it will only lead to loss for the people. Bijni cannot afford such uncertainty,” he said.

The rally was attended by BPF leaders, including BTI executive member Dhiraj Borgoyari, as the NDA camp pushed for consolidation of votes in the constituency.
